A storm with strong winds has hit Pawnee, Oklahoma. There have been many reports of trees and power lines being knocked down and even a camper overturned. The situation remains dangerous. Unfortunately, one person died as a result of this storm inside the RV, which flipped by a strong wind. Power outages and road closures are continuing in the affected area. According to local meteorological authorities, the cause was not a tornado but straight-line winds. In addition, hailstones, which are the size of golf balls, have also been reported.
In Pawnee, where the damage occurred, the town workers have been working through the night to restore the area and calling for residents to be careful. The damage is extensive so that it will be a long recovery process. The town wants to reassure the affected individuals that their community is here to support them. According to the Pawnee County Sheriff, the person who died was in an overturned RV, and other vehicles were also damaged.
Due to the storm, Pawnee Public Schools and the library were closed, and the homecoming event was also canceled. I understand this news may disappoint the students, and I want them to know that people my age also share their disappointment. My high school years were pandemic primarily season, and all the events were unavailable. I recognize that the students must be feeling very disappointed that their big homecoming event has been canceled.
