The reason why natural disasters are an important ambassador topic for me is because my home country is Japan, an island nation in the Far East. Because of its unique climatic conditions and geological structure, Japan is particularly vulnerable to a variety of natural disasters. It is often cited as one of the countries most affected by typhoons and earthquakes. My family lives in Japan, and I am constantly concerned for their safety and check frequently for updates to make sure they are safe and informed about potential dangers. I’m going to expand the scope of that checking a bit to cover this topic. So I am an ambassador for natural disasters.

I’d be curious to hear your thoughts about how politics of natural disasters work in Japan. Are there forces there, like there are in the US, saying that there’s no such thing as climate change? Or is there more of a unified attitude about the problem?
